2. Use of This Website
You may use this website for lawful purposes only. You must not use it in any way that breaches applicable law or regulation, causes harm to others, or interferes with the operation of the site.
The content of this website is provided for general information only. It does not constitute legal advice and should not be relied upon as such. No solicitor-client relationship is formed by your use of this website alone.
We reserve the right to modify or withdraw any part of this website without notice. We will not be liable if the site is unavailable at any time.
3. No Legal Advice Online
Nothing on this website constitutes legal advice. Information published here is general in nature and may not reflect the most current legal developments. We strongly encourage you to seek specific legal advice appropriate to your circumstances before taking any action in relation to any legal matter. An enquiry through this website does not create a duty of care or solicitor-client relationship.
4. Client Engagements
Terms of engagement
Any engagement to provide legal services will be governed by a separate engagement letter or client care letter issued to you at the outset of the matter. That document sets out the scope of our instructions, our fees, and the terms of the professional relationship. These website Terms and Conditions are supplemental to any such engagement letter.
Scope of advice
Our advice is confined to the matters expressly set out in our engagement letter. We do not advise on tax, financial planning, or investment matters unless specifically engaged to do so and we are qualified in those areas. Where your matter touches on such areas, we will indicate that you should seek specialist advice.
Fees and disbursements
Our fees are set out in the relevant engagement or costs estimate. Fees are due and payable in accordance with the terms set out in that document. We reserve the right to request payment on account before commencing or continuing work. Disbursements (third-party costs incurred on your behalf) are charged separately and in addition to our professional fees.
Anti-money laundering
We are required by law to verify the identity of clients before commencing certain matters. You agree to provide identity documents and any other information reasonably requested for these purposes. We may be required to make disclosures to relevant authorities and may be prevented from informing you of such disclosures in certain circumstances.
5. Confidentiality
We maintain the confidentiality of client information in accordance with our professional obligations. Information provided to us in confidence in the context of an established solicitor-client relationship will not be disclosed without your consent, except where required by law, court order, or our regulatory obligations.
6. Intellectual Property
All content on this website — including text, design, graphics, and layout — is owned by or licensed to Selwynford. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use any content without our prior written permission, except for your own personal, non-commercial reference.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Selwynford excludes liability for any loss or damage arising from your use of this website or reliance on information published on it. This includes, without limitation, indirect or consequential loss, loss of data, or loss of business opportunity.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
Our professional liability in relation to client engagements is governed separately by the terms of the relevant engagement letter and applicable professional regulations.
8. Third-Party Links
This website may link to external websites operated by third parties. We do not control and are not responsible for the content or availability of those sites. A link does not constitute endorsement.
9. Governing Law and Jurisdiction
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any dispute arising in connection with these terms or our services shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms and Conditions at any time. The date shown at the top of this document indicates when they were last revised. Continued use of this website following any update constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
